Pack Meeting at Salem Fire Dept

Great job everyone on the Candalaria Cleanup!

The next pack meeting will be held at Salem Fire Department #4 at 200 Alice St. SE. You'll get to see where they park the fire engines when they are not out helping people and get to meet Salem firefighters. The meeting is at 6:30pm Thursday November 12th. Bring a Rake!

The Candalaria Cleanup is this Sunday at the school. We will meet an hour before the cleanup to help the new scouts learn the Bobcat requirements. See you there at noon.

Lock-In Info

Here's a video that the boys who went to the Lock-In last year will find familiar. Remember when Jan Michael Looking Wolf performed for us just before movie time? He has a concert in Salem Friday night at 8p at the Historic Grand Theater. The 2010 Lock-In will be January 15 and 16th at the Linn/ Benton Fairgrounds in Albany.




Don't forget the Candalaria Cleanup Sunday Oct. 25th, we'll meet at noon.

Off To A Great Start!

The Den and Pack meetings last week showed me that there is a lot of enthusiasm for scouting this year. There were ten scouts at our house Wednesday night and there will be at least two more joining our group. If you do not have the book yet, you should purchase one soon at the Scout Store. The address and map for the store is in the "Important Links" section of this blog. You should also get the blue Bear Scout neckerchief and clip. If you are new to scouting you will need to buy the shirt. The gal at the store will help you out with what you need as far as patches to put on the shirt.

The next Den meetup will be at noon before the Candalaria Cleanup on October 25th. We will get started accomplishing the requirements for the Bear Badge. On the following Thursday, October 29, we will meet up for the Den meeting at Candalaria at 6:45p.

If this is your first year in Cub Scouts, it's important to get started on the Bobcat requirements. The Bobcat requirements are at the beginning of the Bear Book and must be completed before the scout can achieve the Bear Badge. The parent and the scout can work on this together and let me know when this is completed. Once accomplished the scout will receive the Bobcat Badge at the Pack meeting.

Wednesday Den Meeting Info

Are you ready for another year of the Cub Scouts? This year we will be working toward achieving the Bear badge. If you haven't purchased the book already, you should do so soon to get an idea of the achievements that we will be completing this year. At the first den meeting, we will be rehearsing the flag presentation and practicing a skit that we will perform at the pack meeting on Thursday night. I was thinking we could do "Are you smarter than a Cub Scout?" We also have a scout crossword puzzle that goes along with the monthly theme of Safari. There will be a sign up folder where we can organize who will be in charge of doing the activities and bringing the snacks each month. I'm expecting to have a great year this year, the pack will be hosting meetings at locations like the Fire Station and Mission Mill. There is a link to the calendar and other useful information on the right column of this site. See you Wed. 7p at my house.
